Today Tom spoke with former Lawrence City Councilor Mike Sweeney about the death of Heather Sapienza, the wife of fired DPW worker Tom Sapienza. Tom asked the city of Lawrence MA Mayor Willie Lantigua for time off without pay to care for his wife and was fired. The Student at Methuen High School who planned a Columbine like shooting at the school, was ordered held for an additional ten days while the DA Jon Blodgett dropped the most serious charge of Terrorism threats. Tom also had on Tom Weaver and Ralph Zazula in the second hour about North Andover's new grading system (Everyone gets a trophy) and the state of the American news media, national politics and MORE!

Today Tom Duggan interviewed Jen Cooper of the Lawrence School Committee who resigned this week and moved out of Lawrence saying that the Lawrence Public Schools because of the shenanigans of the State Department of Education and Receiver Riley. 

Tom also played debate clips from the State Senate debate this week sponsored by the Valley Patriot and WCAP radio between Democrat candidates Tim Coco, Kathleen O'Connor Ives and Bill Manzi. The Freedom of Information Law and how Lawrence continues to violate it with impunity, as state officials close to Mayor Lantigua do absolutely nothing to hold him accountable for turning over public documents. Another issue discussed is the 209A restraining order laws as each candidate vowed to fight for men's rights not to be deemed criminals for the rest of their lives because of a restraining order. FASCINATING STUFF. 

We also discussed briefly the 3rd Congressional debate between Tom Weaver and John Golnik and a LOT MORE!!!

The WCAP - Valley Patriot North Andover Town Moderator Debate between Mark DiSalvo, Ramsey Bahrawy, and Frank MacMillan.

Attorney Ramsey Bahrawy participated by phone during the first half of the debate, unfortunately we lost the phone connection and though we tried to contact him were unable to get him back. Please consider how he would have answered some of these issues differently from the other candidates had he been able to stay with us for the second half of the debate. We apologize for whatever mixup happend and as that you keep in mind Mr Ramsey's candidacy as you listen to the other candidates in the second half of the debate.

Candidates DiSalvo and MacMillan discussed the role of the town moderator, the role of partisan politics in local elections and the difference in how they would govern in the second part of this debate.

The Paying Attention radio program with Tom Duggan on 980AM in Lowell Massachusetts. Today Tom and Paul held their annual St. Patrick's Day Show, in the studio today, North Andover Selectman Bill Gordon called in to talk about his candidacy for reelection to the board. Christine Morabito, president of the Greater Boston Tea Party called in to talk about the April 15, 2012 Tea Party Rally in Worcester.
Tom introduced his daughter for the first time and talked about finding each other after 18 years of not knowing he had a child, how they found each other and a hopeful story for kids thinking about trying to find their real parents. Tom and Paul also talked about the corruption probe in Lawrence of the William Lantigua administration, the Lawrence School Department and the state appointed receiver refuses to hand over public documents pertaining to his expenditures of public dollars. The New receiver for the Lawrence Public Schools refuses to turn over documents on how he is spending state money to run the schools. Our second show after a one year hiatus, Tom Duggan and Paul Murano (joined by producer Todd) covered Topics from Lawrence, New Hampshire, Methuen, Lowell, North Andover and other areas. Calling into the show today were former Lt. Governor Candidate Richard Tisei who gave us the exclusive that he is announcing next Tuesday his candidacy for Congress in the 6th district against John Tierney.

Also calling in were Tracy Watson, member of the Board of Selectmen in North Andover to talk about how Superintendent Hottel sent out notices home with students this week which advocated certain proposals before Town Meeting on the 15th, namely the proposed meals tax.

Also calling in were Sean Fountain the newly elected West District from Methuen, School Committeeman-elect Jen Cooper, Mr. Maali, Lawrence City Councilor Marc Laplante and more!

Tom also played clips of his interview with Newt Gingrich and discussed the Tea Party, Occupy Wall Street and the EPA.

It's his first show back on WCAP after Tom Duggan of The Valley Patriot and Paul Murano's one year hiatus and it was packed with action.

DOWNLOAD OR LISTEN TO HOUR 1: A tribute to Lawrence Fire Lt. Jim Zahn, a recap of the candidates for office in Lawrence and the influence of Mayor Willie Lantigua. Roger Twomey accepts an endorsement from Willie Lantigua and gets away with it. Lawrence City Councilor Marc Laplante calls in to make a final plea for votes and says Lantigua is more concerned with personal gain than the betterment of the city of Lawrence. Race voting in Lawrence.


DOWNLOAD OR LISTEN TO HOUR 2: A continuation of the first hour discussion on the upcoming Lawrence elections. A run down of the differences between Steve Zanni and Al DiNuccio, candidates for mayor of Methuen.
A call by Methuen Mayoral Candidate Steve Zanni making his final push for votes before the election the following Tuesday, as well as Al DiNuccio. Kemal Bozkurt a Muslim candidate for School Committee calls in with what Tom called one of the most entertaining calls of all time, Mr. Maali follows up with another really entertaining call.

Today Tom and Paul talked about the Bank robber who was cornered by police at the WCAP studios last week shortly they went off the air who shot and killed himself. Tom was on hand to take photos and videos of the incident and discussed how society is better off with the bank robber no longer breathing. Paul, of course was sad! In the second hour State Representative candidates Sal Tabit and Paul Adams debated in a very feisty exchange resulting in Tabit attacking Adams for his inexperience and Adams attacking Tabit for giving money to the Tim Murray campaign. Tabit called for bankruptcy for the city of Lawrence while Adams is calling for a control board or a receiver.

In the third hour Tom Talked about Charlie Baker, candidate for Governor's position on Lowell's Home Rule petition to the legislature asking permission to change city worker's health care plans without going through unions and collective bargaining. Baker also talked about Governor Patrick's CORI Reform that passed last week. Willie Lantigua shows up at a mutual aide meeting in Andover and it degenerated into a shouting match ending the meeting.

Tom Talks about his trip to DC a the National Law Enforcement Officers Memorial, Why he hates Paul, and then had senator Richard Tisei on to talk about the race for governor and his candidacy with Charlie Baker as his running mate. Tisei talked about being openly gay, tax policy for the state, the Lawrence debacle and how mayor Lantigua has already blown $24 million in loans in less than 3 weeks, gay marriage, abortion, Tim Cahill, The Perry Amendment, Mary Ellen Manning our best governor's councilor and whether or not Charlie Baker is too nice a guy to win the race and govern if he wins. Tisei also gave us a breaking news story that the legislature will be reconsidering a fiscal oversight board for the city of Lawrence on Wednesday as part of the budget amendments being proposed.
